The Culture and Library Sub-committee of the Culture and Leisure Committee awards approximately EUR 21 million per year in grants for arts and culture. In addition to the types of grants listed here, separate application rounds may also be launched during the year. Information about these separate calls will be announced separately on the culture grants webpages.

Arts and culture grants: Operational grants

Arts and culture grants are awarded for art and cultural activities open to the public and taking place in Helsinki. The grants support activities aimed at Helsinki residents that bring people together in the context of art and culture and provide opportunities for encounters or interaction. Arts and culture grants include two types of grants: operational grants and project grants.

Operational grants are awarded to registered Helsinki-based operators whose activities have continued as a registered entity for at least one full financial year. The grant is awarded for year-round operations for the year 2027.

The application period for operational grants begins on Monday, 15 June 2026, and ends on Monday, 31 August 2026, at 4:00 p.m.
